Congratulations to all the incoming Foundation Year students who received their results from A Levels, BTECs and other qualifications recently. With strong results from so many students, we look forward to teaching our biggest cohort yet.
The Foundation Year's new students include Elijah from Dudley whose success was featured on the University of Cambridge homepage. Elijah who attended Dudley College, will be joining Queens' College in the coming weeks.
Elijah said: "I spent Year 9 out of school and joined an Alternative Provision unit in Year 10, where I was only on track to achieve GCSEs in English Language and Maths. I had to really take it upon myself to go further. I used second hand textbooks to teach myself four additional GCSEs to be able to study A-Levels the next year; becoming the only person from my AP unit (to my knowledge) to go onto A-Levels. Alongside this, I am the only person from my college to go to Cambridge in the last 10 years.
I'd really like to encourage people from non-traditional backgrounds to put themselves out there and be aspirational. It is entirely possible to break down systematic barriers and achieve your aspirations."
